42.2 km later

May 13th, 2009

so.. it’s been a few weeks since the marathon, and as it were I’ve been out for another 42.2 kilometers =)

Saturday after the marathon = 5km
Tuesday next = 5km
Wednesday = 8km
Thursdag = 6.5km
Saturday = 13km
Tuesday (yesterday) = 4.7km

Both me and Karin went and had a massage on the day we got back from Hamburg, which I’m sure helped a lot. Thankfully I haven’t had any real pain or soreness after the marathon. Quite the contrary, I feel really good, and I’m just really really happy that it’s been so easy to get back into the regular runs. I’m not pretty much 90% sure that I’m doing Berlin this year as well :)

Hamburg Marathon - endgame!

April 29th, 2009

42.195 km - BOOYAH! =)

So now it’s all over, it was a really great experience and a fun day. Wasn’t too hard to tell you the truth - probably sounds like I’m bragging, but in the light of my somewhat slow time: 4 hours, 45 minutes, 41 seconds, I think it’s safe enough to say =) The only problem I really had was with my knees. As with the other long runs I’ve been on they start making trouble somewhere along the line, in this case at the 30km mark. It wasn’t too too bad though… I did a little stretching, walked at the water depots, and just took it a little easy. The pains went away and finishing wasn’t a problem :)

Everyone else finished as well, now we’re at home recovering. I can’t wait to go running again, hopefully this Saturday =) Just a short one, though… :)

Another update

April 16th, 2009

Been running a bit - 16km, 6km (fast, and HOT weather =), 4km today doing a bit longer run.

I overexcerted myself on that 6k FAST run… was running with a mate who is quite a lot faster, so now I’m feeling pretty fucked in the legs =) I never truly got over that infection thing I’m afraid - I just hope the marathon itself is still possible, but I suspect as much =)

Run 1/4 (Week 15)

April 7th, 2009

8K

Great weather today! We’ve started ramping down, this week it’s down (from 64km last week) to 45.5 km, next week something like 30km, and then the week after that down to almost nothing.

Well except for the Sunday, which is 42.126 kilometers ;)

Run 4/4 (Week 14)

April 5th, 2009

32K

Right… this was the big one. 32 kilometers, the longest run during the training. Weather was sunny and warm, everything was brilliant. Well it was a bit too warm, really, but the run went really well, though I did have to walk a little here and there, but my legs are in a surprisingly good shape today (Sunday), though I now look forward to a massage, and to some restitution, as the training schedule now calls for lower-intensity training before the marathon.

Next Saturday it’s 19km, and the one after that it’s 12km … the following one is …. zero km :) but on the Sunday it’s race time! Three weeks to go!

Run 3/4 (Week 14)

April 5th, 2009

8K

I skipped this one.. went cycling instead, but I felt that the legs didn’t quite have enough strength in them, and I wanted to be sure that Saturday’s 32K run would go well.

Run 2/4 (Week 14)

April 5th, 2009

16K

Very good run today.. great weather, but we got out a little late in the day, so it actually got rather cold. Couldn’t be helped, though, as I went to my new job today and didn’t get back until 5.30-ish.

Run 1/4 (Week 14)

I guess I must remember to massage my legs.. Saturday was still in my there. Oh well.. good run none the less, and then home for some nice foodage :)

Run 4/4 (Week 13)

March 31st, 2009

22.4K

Good weather, but I must admit that today’s run was rough … anyway, I made it through :)

Run 3/4 (Week 13)

March 26th, 2009

8K

A light drizzle today, and a little bit cold, but still a nice run. Had a few pains in my legs, but nothing a bit of stretching didn’t take care of. Yesterday’s massage at Tine’s place helped a lot.
