amazing talk about farming fish not just sustainably, but “restoratively”
This may seem a little dry at first, but it’s a rather fascinating tale of how nature can be our partner and help us make a better world.
Dean Ornish is a back-to-the-roots kind of healer with a stunning degree of clarity when it comes to seeing what’s good for us.
Yet another facet of the story that we’re disrupting the finely tuned world machine.
This guy is stupenduous!
I did actually for the longest time think that I knew (with pretty much 100% certainty) that our abilities, social skills, and other human characteristics are a result of cultural influences, rather than innate, genetic / instinctual gifts from our genes.
Well.. I’ve gone away from that notion a long time ago. In this talk, Steven Pinker talks about his newly published book on the same subject. I think I shall have to buy it sometime ![]()
James Howard Kunstler talks about the American suburbia, the mentality that comes from them, and why it doesn’t work. He also very emphatically states that we (the Human race) are going to have to change how we do things, because the oil is running out. We’re going to have to live closer to where we work. We’re going to have to live closer to each other. We’re going to have to start growing food closer to where it’s supposed to be eaten. And so on - all of which is exactly in tune with my thinking.
